I write The Thing down. On whatever is closest.
A sticky note. A random page in the nearest notebook. Then I have to remember where I put it.
I’ve been doing this for about thirty years. I still open whichever notebook is closest and jot down the thought that just came to me.
What did I want to do with this?
I listen to AI podcasts and think, “Oh, I could do something with that.” A tool, a website idea, something I might make.
Saving the link doesn’t necessarily save the thought I had about it. When I find it again, I want to know why I cared.
So the thing I want to keep beside a link is a sentence: “I saved this because ___.” It could be a voice note instead. Whatever lets me keep the thought with the thing.
AI is a tool
AI is a TOOL. Not THE TOOL. Not THE ANSWER.
I’m interested in whether it can help me find a saved idea when I’m working on something related. I haven’t settled on a tool or tested that workflow yet.
It needs to save me work. If I have to spend my time managing another system, I haven’t solved the problem.
