Just want the printable? Open the 3 p.m. handoff (PDF)

My brain's office hours end at 3.

Unfortunately, my job has different hours.

There is still work to do, messages to answer, and an idea I'd like to remember.

The 3 p.m. handoff

So I made a handoff sheet.

A brain dump. One thing to start tomorrow. Where to find it. And a box for what I actually finished. Apparently that information deserves recording too.

At the bottom: “No catching up required.”

I like that last line. A form that immediately creates overdue paperwork has misunderstood the assignment.

The sheet is a prototype. I haven't tested it yet.

Tell tomorrow-me what to open

“Work on website” could mean almost anything. Tomorrow-me would have to decide where to start before starting.

“Open the homepage draft and choose the headline” gives her something to do.

I want writing it down to take less effort than reconstructing the thought tomorrow.

Paper can sit beside the thing I'm working on. It doesn't ask me to remember which app contains the place where I organized the other apps.

Of course, a printable can become another thing I enthusiastically download. Downloading it and using it are, historically, separate events.

Still figuring it out,
Rachelle
